Is Qwangu free to use?
Yes. Browsing and searching are free, and posting a listing is free too — it takes about 20 seconds once you have an account.
Do I have to pay a viewing fee?
No. Qwangu does not charge viewing fees. You contact the owner or agent directly from the listing and arrange the viewing between yourselves.
What does "Owner-confirmed" mean on a listing?
It means the person who posted the house confirmed it was still vacant, and did so recently. That confirmation is only trusted for 7 days — after that the listing shows as not confirmed until the owner confirms again. This is the honest version of a freshness badge: it can lapse, and it says so when it has.
What is the true monthly cost?
The advertised rent plus the fixed monthly charges that come with the house — service charge, water, garbage and any other fixed charge the owner listed. Metered electricity is deliberately left out, because it depends on how much you use. The point is that you can compare two houses on what you will actually pay, not on the headline rent.
Why do I need an account to see contact details?
Contact details are only shown to signed-in users. It keeps owner phone numbers and emails away from bulk scrapers, which is the main reason people stop answering their phones after listing a house. Creating an account is free.
What does the verified badge on an agent or owner mean?
It means that person submitted an identity document and a selfie, and a member of the Qwangu team reviewed and approved it. It confirms who they are. It is not a guarantee about any particular house, which is what the separate owner-confirmed status on each listing is for.
How do I know a listing is not a scam?
Qwangu does not inspect houses, so nothing here guarantees a listing is genuine — what you get are signals you can weigh yourself. Owner-confirmed means the owner said it was vacant, and that lapses after 7 days. A verified badge means we checked that person's ID: who they are, not what they are letting. A fake listing usually asks you to send cash before you have seen the house, so never do that.
A house I saw is already taken. What do I do?
Open the listing and use "Already taken? Report this listing". That tells us and the owner, and it is the fastest way to stop someone else wasting a trip on the same house.
How do I post a house on Qwangu?
Create a free account, then use Post Property. You will be asked for the location, the rent or price, the monthly charges and some photos. Filling in the charges is what lets seekers see the true monthly cost, and listings that show it get taken more seriously.
Which parts of Kenya does Qwangu cover?
