Cookie Policy
How we use cookies and similar technologies on Qwangu.
Last updated August 8, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Qwangu (“we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at https://qwangu.co.ke or use our mobile application. It explains what these technologies are and why we use them, as well as your rights to control our use of them. This Cookie Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information. Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Qwangu) are called “first-party cookies”. Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called “third-party cookies”.
2. Why Do We Use Cookies?
We use cookies for a limited number of reasons. We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal — we do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The cookies we use fall into the following categories:
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential to provide you with services available through our Services and to enable you to use some of their features, such as keeping you securely signed in to your account. Without these cookies, services you have asked for cannot be provided, and we only use these cookies to provide you with those services. These are set by our authentication provider (Supabase) when you log in.
Security & fraud prevention
We use a security service (Cloudflare Turnstile) to help protect our Services against automated abuse and spam. This may set cookies or store a token in order to distinguish humans from bots and to keep our Services secure. This is also strictly necessary.
Analytics (optional — off unless you allow it)
If you allow these, we store a random, anonymous visitor id in your browser so that a property owner can see how many people viewed their listing, how often it appeared in search results, and how many people tapped to reveal their contact. It contains no name, phone number or email, it is never linked to your account, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers. We also sample a small share of page-performance traces to find slow pages. If you decline, none of these are sent and the id is deleted.
Preferences (optional — off unless you allow it)
If you allow these, we remember your saved homes, recently viewed properties, compare list and saved searches between visits, so you don't lose them when you close the tab. If you decline, those features still work, but only for the current tab — nothing is written to your device.
3. How Can You Control Cookies?
The optional categories above are off by default. We ask when you first visit, and nothing optional is stored or sent until you agree. You can change your mind at any time — it is as easy to withdraw as it was to give:
Withdrawing consent also deletes what was already stored for that category. Strictly necessary cookies cannot be switched off here, because without them you cannot stay signed in or pass the anti-spam check — but you can still block them in your browser (you then won't be able to log in).
You can also set or amend your web browser controls to accept or refuse cookies. Most browsers allow you to:
- See what cookies you have and delete them on an individual basis
- Block third-party cookies
- Block cookies from particular sites
- Block all cookies from being set
- Delete all cookies when you close your browser
If you choose to delete or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services. Please note that our maps are served via OpenStreetMap tiles and do not rely on advertising cookies.
4. Updates to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Please therefore revisit this Cookie Policy regularly to stay informed about our use of cookies and related technologies. The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
5. Contact Us
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or other technologies, please email us at [email protected] or visit our contact page.
